... That’s a good question. Globiles is the union of “global” and “mobile”, two words that seem made for each other in our modern and connected world. Venturing beyond definitions, Globiles represents the spirit of people that have been driven to travel and explore beyond their country of birth, expats, global nomads and “location-independent professionals”.
Personally, my first memory of getting into a globile state of mind came as a child way back in the 1960s: a whole coconut arrived by post from an aunt who was working hard in…. the Maldives. That coconut became an icon for me, a calm but constant reminder that there was a whole world beyond our shores.
Exotic fruits beget exotic travels and since those days of coconuts I have lived in Australia, Spain, Singapore and Hong Kong, and visited many more countries for work or pleasure. My journey has been seasoned with the presence of other globiles, hundreds of friends and colleagues who have shared a globile lifestyle.
These like-minded people are the inspiration and the lifeblood of Globiles, a peer community created by a globile for other globiles, to help those starting or already embarked upon an international career, with advice, insights and information covering entrepreneurship, job searches, interview techniques, visas and permits and much more.
The success of our community depends our members’ participation. We aim together to build and curate a collective brain to help members as they travel the world and experience the ups and downs of an international career. We welcome questions, requests for help, but especially "globs" of wisdom to share with other members.
We recently launched our panel of Career Advisors, volunteers who have relevant experience and insight who are willing to provide 1:1 advice to those moving jobs or reflecting on what to do next. Our jobs market includes access to half a million jobs around the world.
We have a member points system which rewards those who most contribute through inviting friends, posting their own insights and volunteering to advise other members. Members move from Explorer to Navigator to Pioneer levels, with the Pioneers sharing in future income of the community as reward for their contribution.
Membership is by invitation, but you don’t know any current members and would like to join us, then please register, telling us why you think you are a globile or including your LinkedIn profile, and we will get back to you quickly with confirmation of your account activation.
See you in Globiles, the meeting point for people like you.
